"To me, art isn't about creating "pretty pictures," but instead it is about ideas; it's not about stories, but is about seeing and portraying what makes a subject interesting... Interactions and relationships in the subject are what interest me; hot or cold, wet or dry, large or small, dark or light and so on. The trick is to communicate these differences in a unique and expressive way. I choose not to scream at the viewer with bright color or hit them over the head with the big hammer of clever gimmicks until they get my art, rather I try to visually whisper, calm and quietly, allowing those that are in tune and paying attention to understand and appreciate it.""My work is a reflection of the life cycles of our world, both natural and man-made. Whether it's the saturated color of a willow in spring against the cold shadows of winters remnant, the way light and shadow envelop the human form or nature's deconstruction of an old barn, I am inspired to capture that moment in time with it's unique colors, textures and mood." -G.
